Classifieds Layout — InDesign Nested & Next Styles
This exercise will teach you how to use nested and next style sheets in InDesign. They will allow you to flow text into a document and style it based on its contents.

This exercise is a warm-up for the next assignment which is to design a long document.
You will use the model I will hand out as a guide. Don't take any liberties. You must follow the instructions exactly.
The Ground Rules
You know what I mean; stay between the lines.
There are ground rules which apply to this exercise. Most are indicated on the sample distributed in class. The page is letter-sized (8.5” X 11”).
All text must be formatted in the Officina font. You must use Paragraph Styles throughout the document. Once you are done, perform a “Package”, placing all the files in a folder named "lastname, firstname". Copy the final folder into my “Drop Box”
- Your document cannot have two consecutive carriage returns.
- Your document cannot have two consecutive space characters.
- All Tab spaces must be defined. Never have more than one tab character at a time.
- All text must be associated to a Style Sheet.
- You must use all the copy provided.
- You must have a two or three-column grid.
- Text boxes must span the two or three columns.
- You must not have any other fonts than the ones prescribed.

- Execute the InDesign skills as outlined above.
- Hand in your files using the Package function in InDesign
- Name your folder "lastname, firstname, 010" according to your section number.
